The Kali Muscle Story
“Happier than a BodyBuilder Directing Traffic”
is a Geico commercial we all know and love. That bodybuilder goes by
Kali Muscle and he has an incredible backstory with a troubled past Kali is spreading across the internet after his short documentary surfaced on the Strength Project.
Kali has a dynamic workout routine that
has been developed through years of unique and non-conventional training
methods due to the lack of weight lifting equipment in the California
prison system. While Kali was in prison, he anticipated the weights
being taken out and formulated his own workout routine. Pictured below,
using just a plastic bag or towel and a partner, you can still achieve a
solid workout with no weights needed. Kali’s website is in it’s
beginning stages but will be featuring many Prison Exercises he developed.
He also features these Prison Exercises
on his YouTube channel. In the video above, he explains why bar workouts
became an important component of prison workouts once the weights were
removed from the California prison system. The inmates worked out for
not only strength, but because their body had to be a weapon. If there
was a prison riot or a conflict with another inmate, you had to be able
to defend yourself.
Kali Muscle
was born and raised in Oakland, California. He received a football
scholarship to Fresno State as a running back. Kali decided he had to
relocate to Los Angeles in 2010 in order to become successful in acting
and bodybuilding. Kali’s first project was only two weeks after his
arrival in L.A. after auditioning in front of Matthew MCconaughey for a
role in a music video that Mr. MCconaughey directed and produced.(Jaime
Johnson:Playing the Part) After Kali Muscle first stint with acting
things took off fast for Kali Muscle’s career.
He then signed with Venture IAB
commercially and immediately got booked for his first national
commercial with “Old Navy”. The rest is history from there. Kali Muscle
then went on to do national commercials for Geico, Snickers, Comcast
Xfinity, Honda and many more. Kali has also been in a host of movies and
television shows in his short time in Hollywood. Presently Kali Muscle
is signed with Maverick Artist Agency theatrically and Venture IAB
commercially.
Kali Muscle as also started a nonprofit organization called Xcon to Icon where he speaks to the youth about a different path in life other than that of crime and violence. Kali made some critical mistakes in his life that lead him to a stint in prison but he overcame these obstacles and is now trying to create a better future for today’s youth.

ReplyDeleteKali has motivated me to change my workout routine. 2 weeks ago I was listening to his "Motivation Music - Get Big" and realized I have been bullshytin with my reps. Now I do not leave the gym with less than 300 reps. My chest workout is 50 reps (110lbs) on Flat Bench, 50 reps Incline Bench, DumbBell Press 40reps 50lb, 40 reps 55lb, 30 reps 60lb. Decline DumbBell Press 40reps 50lb, 40 reps 55lb, 30 reps 60lb. End with reverse behind the head military press 150 reps (20lbs, 30lb, 40lbs, 50lbs and 60lbs 30reps each). I have been doing this for the past two weeks. I will move up in weight June 1, 2016. Kali song "Prove them Wrong, also Money and the Muscle" can really get you going, when your in the zone. I bought them on Amazon and downloaded them on my phone. Thanks Kali
